Song Editing Mix & Variations
"Ecstasy" - Ben Flowers
"Ecstasy" by Ben Flowers is a great calming song that has fantastic short vocal sections as well as interesting synth instruments that blend well with the rest of the mix and further add to that very calm feeling. I was inspired to work on this type of music because it is not something I usually listen to in my casual music entertainment but it stood out distinctly from the rest of the samples when starting out on this project that I could try and experiment with production techniques on the song.
Variations
This is part of the original mix with only the use of editing through panning, plugins, and gain.
Variation #1 is "Ecstasy" with a groove change that was set to double-time through the use of a drummer track in Logic Pro X which I found to be more pleasing to listen to compared to the half-time version.
Variation #2 is a change to the mix where I added sound design to section of the "Ecstasy" mix to bolster parts of the percussion tracks with real world recorded sounds as well as sci-fi ambiences that worked well as texture background.
Variation #3 of the mix has the inclusion of live vocals and congas that I recorded and edited to fit into the rest of the song.
